LOS ANGELES -- Yasiel Puig extended his career-best hitting streak to 12 games with his third home run in four days, a go-ahead three-run shot, and drew a bases-loaded walk in the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-5 win over the Florida Marlins on Monday night. Discount Nike Air Max . Dan Haren (5-1) overcame a shaky start following his 3-2 loss at Washington last Wednesday, allowing three runs and seven hits over seven innings without walking a batter after losing his previous four decisions against the Marlins. The right-hander is 6-2 lifetime against Miami, the only other victory coming on a four-hit shutout in July 2009 with the Arizona Diamondbacks at Phoenix. Brian Wilson inherited a 6-3 lead from Haren and promptly gave up a leadoff walk to Christian Yelich and a home run by pinch-hitter and former Dodger Reed Johnson on the next pitch. But Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save, one day after he was charged with three runs in the 10th inning of a 7-4 loss to San Francisco. Yelich helped stake Tom Koehler (3-3) to a 3-1 lead with a solo homer in the third, but the Marlins right-hander never made it through the fourth. He walked No. 8 hitter Drew Butera, then Dee Gordon with two outs, and Puig drove the next pitch into the pavilion seats in left-centre for his sixth home run to give Los Angeles a 4-3 lead. Koehler gave up four runs, six hits and five walks in 3 2-3 innings. In his previous two starts, he allowed no runs and five hits over 15 innings, beating the Dodgers 6-3 at Miami and following up with a no-decision against the New York Mets. Los Angeles added two more runs in the fifth, including an RBI single by Andre Ethier after Matt Kemp was grazed on the helmet by Henry Rodriguezs pitch and stole second on the right-handers next delivery to Ethier. Rodriguez also forced in a run with his bases-loaded walk to Puig. Kemp, playing in his 1,000th regular-season game, singled leading off the second inning and stole second before Haren drove him in from third with a single that tied the score at 1. Yelich drove a 3-2 pitch to left-centre in the third for his fourth homer, giving the Marlins a 2-1 lead. It was the first of four consecutive hits against Haren, including an RBI single by Giancarlo Stanton that extended his career-best hitting streak to 14 games. But Jarrod Saltalamacchia grounded into an inning-ending double-play. Haren allowed only one more hit after that -- a leadoff double in the sixth by Stanton. First base umpire Laz Diaz, who was admonished by Major League Baseball last week for his role in the ejections of New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi on May 5 against the Angels had a call of his overturned in the Marlins first inning. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly challenged Diazs ruling that Stanton was safe, after Haren took the toss from Adrian Gonzalez on Stantons grounder and stepped on the bag a split-second before the runner did. Replays confirmed that Mattingly was correct, and Stanton had to settle for a run-scoring groundout, which helped increase his major league-leading RBIs total to 42. Kemp had a career-high 40 stolen bases in 2011 before injuries to his left hamstring and left ankle limited him to a combined 179 games in 2012 and 2013. Talbot hadnt played since making 31 saves in a 2-0 triumph over the Flyers on Nov. 19 at Madison Square Garden and on Friday turned aside all 26 shots he faced to give the Rangers a third win in their last four tries. All three of those wins have come via shutout, as Henrik Lundqvist stopped 21 shots in 5-0 win over Montreal five days ago. St. Louis notched a goal and an assist to reach 1,000 career points. Dan Boyle and Rick Nash also scored for the Rangers, while Derek Stepan assisted on all three goals. Steve Mason made 21 saves for the Flyers, who have lost three in a row and are 1-6-1 in their last eight. The teams will meet again Saturday afternoon in New York. Talbot stopped all eight shots he faced in the first period and the Rangers cashed in on a power play just over six minutes into the contest to grab a 1-0 lead. Stepan kept the puck alive in the Philadelphia zone at the right point and swept a pass to the left point for Boyle, who rifled a shot past a screened Mason. St. Louis piicked up an assist on the first goal, then scored his ninth of the season at 4:14 of the second to reach the milestone. Fake Yeezy Boost For Sale. Stepan again factored into the goal with a shot from the right circle that Mason stopped. The rebound, though, caromed into the low slot for an unchecked St. Louis, who snapped it home. The Rangers added to their lead 5 1/2 minutes into the third period after Chris Kreider was hit with a double-minor for high-sticking. Less than a minute into the penalty kill, Stepan led a 3-on-1 rush and sent a pass from the left wing into the right circle for Nash, who one-timed a shot into the net for his 16th goal of the season. Talbot, after stopping seven shots in the second period, turned aside 11 in the third to complete his fifth career shutout. KANSAS CITY, Mo. Joe Crede Jersey . -- The Royals shook up their coaching staff Thursday in an attempt to jumpstart their failing offence, making Dale Sveum the hitting coach and Mike Jirschele their third base coach. Pedro Grifol, who took over as hitting coach last season, will now instruct catchers. The moves were announced after the Royals finished off a disastrous homestand that included a sweep at the hands of Houston, and before they opened a four-game series in Toronto. Sveum said the Royals havent done a good enough job this season of hitting pitches in the upper half of the strike zone. "The bottom line is weve struggled with elevation and weve swung at pitches down in the zone probably way too much," he said. "From thigh high to the top of the strike zone, were not doing enough damage." The Royals began the day last in the majors with 21 homers, putting them on pace to match the 1976 club for the fewest in franchise history for a non-strike-shortened season. Theyre also last in the American League in runs and slugging percentage. "There is not one man in the lineup thats hitting the ball well," Royals designated hitter Billy Butler said Wednesday. "Were just cold." Yost said "a different voice can make a difference," to struggling batters, but the Royals have heard plenty of voices about hitting: Sveum is Kansas Citys fifth hitting coach in less than three seasons. The Royals let go of Kevin Seitzer two years ago in the hope that somebody else would help the club generate more power. Seitzer was eventually hired by the Blue Jays, who currently lead the majors with 76 homers -- more than Kansas City is on pace for all season. Jack Maloof and Andre David were hired before last season, but they only made it a couple of months before they were reassigned within the franchise. It was at that point that the Royals hired Grifol and Hall of Famer George Brett on an interim basis. The Royals showed signs of life once that duo was in charge, slowly climbing into playoff contention. Grifol was given the job on a full-time basis after Brett stepped down in July, but lasted less than a year in the role. "Hes the one that pulled us out of our trouble last year," Yost said of Grifol Thursday. "A year later, we find ourselves in the exact same spot." Sveum, a former Brewers and Cubs manager, had been serving as the Royals third base coach. But he also has plenty of experience as a hitting coach, helping Milwaukee finish in the top three of the National League in homers in each of his three seasons. "Hes got experience, he studies hitting," Yost said. "Hes got a lot of knowledge. He helped Prince Fielder get, in my opinion, to the next level as an offensive performer."
